Install Ernest on a website that is not Shopify

This procedure adds the chat widget to any website.

Before you start

You must be able to edit the HTML of your website.

Add the script

  1. Sign in to Ernest.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Find the Install the widget card.
  4. Copy the script tag.
  5. Open the HTML of your website.
  6. Add the script tag before the end of the body element.
  7. Publish the page.

The chat widget shows in the bottom right corner of the page.

Allow your domain

Ernest answers only on the domains that you allow.

  1. Click Settings, then Domains.
  2. Type the domain of your website.
  3. Click Add.

The chat widget does not answer on a domain that is not in this list.
