What we collect

Ernest collects the minimum data necessary to provide AI-powered customer support. This includes your account information (email, business name), knowledge base content you provide, and conversation data between your customers and the Ernest widget.

How we use it

Your data is used solely to power your Ernest support agent. We do not sell your data to third parties. Knowledge base content is processed to generate embeddings for AI retrieval. Conversation data is stored to maintain context and improve response quality.

Data sharing & disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than those described in this policy. Specifically:

We share data with service providers (such as AI model providers and infrastructure hosts) only as necessary to operate the Ernest platform on your behalf.
When you connect a third-party integration (such as Shopify or Google), data is exchanged with that service only to provide the features you have enabled.
Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used solely to provide and improve the features you authorized. We do not use Google user data for advertising or transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide the service, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with adequate confidentiality protections.
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Ernest, our users, or the public.

Data storage

All data is stored securely using Supabase with row-level security policies ensuring tenant isolation. Sensitive credentials (such as OAuth tokens) are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM.

Your rights

You can export or delete your data at any time from the Settings page. When you delete your account, all associated data — including knowledge base content, conversations, and embeddings — is permanently removed.
