Tell Ernest about your business

Ernest reads your content. But your content does not always say what your business is. You must tell Ernest this in one sentence or two.

Why this is necessary

A customer asks "Can I cancel my order?".

The correct answer is different for each business. A shop must stop a delivery. A software company has no deliveries. Ernest cannot see this difference in your pages.

Without this context, Ernest reads your pages and makes a guess. The guess is usually that you sell goods. If you do not sell goods, the answer is wrong.

Ernest also decides when to send a conversation to your team. This context makes that decision better. Ernest sends fewer conversations that it can answer.

Where to write it

1. Click Settings.
2. Find About your business.
3. Write your context in the box.
4. Click Save.

The limit is 500 characters.

What to write

Write only the facts that your pages do not say:

• what you sell
• who writes to you
• what you do not do

Examples

For a shop:

"We sell handmade ceramics. We ship in three days. Customers write to us about orders, delivery and returns."

For a software company:

"We sell software. We have no orders, no shipping and no deliveries. The people who write to us are users of our product. When they ask about orders, they ask what our product does for their customers."

What this is not

This box is not a list of commands. Ernest reads it as facts only. Ernest does not obey instructions that you write in this box. The rules that keep Ernest safe stay the same.
