Order actions

Ernest can do tasks in your store. These tasks are order actions.

WARNING

An order action changes the data in your store. A refund moves money. Set the mode to Ask me first until you trust the answers of Ernest.

The available actions

For a Shopify store, Ernest can do three actions:

  • cancel an order that you did not send
  • start a return
  • make a refund

For a WooCommerce store, Ernest can cancel an order and make a refund. Ernest cannot start a return.

The three modes

Each action has a mode:

  • Off — Ernest does not do the action.
  • Ask me first — Ernest asks you before Ernest does the action.
  • Automatic — Ernest does the action without your approval.

A refund has two modes only: Off and Ask me first. Ernest never makes a refund automatically.

Set the mode of an action

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Find the card for your store.
  3. Find the Order actions list.
  4. Select a mode for each action.

The change is immediate.

The customer must agree

Ernest always asks the customer before Ernest does an action. This is true for all three modes. The customer must answer yes.
